Pastels on 5th was yesterday! It’s a fantastic art event in my hometown that benefits Alternatives to Violence and the Safehouse Project. 75 artists and sponsors came together yesterday to create masterpieces in soft pastels on the sidewalk. Together, we raised over $20,000!
My sister and I worked together on our piece for about 6.5 hours.
We won 1st Place People’s choice award, and 1st place in the Juror’s award! What an amazing day!
Hank was a great example of how I work with commissioners to really capture their loved one’s true character. We emailed back and forth, touching up the small details that really make Hank who he is. Like that lovely smile!
Created with chalk and charcoal in about 30 hours.
ACEO cards 379 and 380 for the Safehouse. :) I really miss doing these every day.
Created with pastel pencils on tan paper 2.5x3.5in
This was created as a special gift for two very lovely people who gave much love and time to me and my church. Inspired by the stunning Maroon Bells of Colorado, created with pastel bars and Derwent Pastel Pencils in about 50 hours.
Me and my sister at Pastels on 5th last year - The event is coming around again this Saturday and I’m SO exited! It’s been the highlight of my year and I can’t wait. :D This took a very HOT 8 hours to finish last year.
This year, I’m recreating one of my favorite pieces(with a new twist!) in pastels on the sidewalk to help Alternatives to Violence raise awareness and $20,000
Special thanks to rachelle-the-llama and Alanna Brake/Lucky Brake photography. <3
In honor of his 55th birthday today, here’s a collection of my favorite drawing memories of Michael Jackson. Taking on an MJ portrait is always a huge learning experience for me and in all honesty, I would not be the artist I am today without the passion he showed me was possible.
I do a lot of commission work, and it’s been a while since I’ve done something just for fun ((just cause I can)) and I had a blast!
Created with chalk and charcoal in about 25 hours.
This happy little cutie is Punky, my latest commission created with chalk and charcoal in about 20 hours.
Card 378 - Still one of my favorite things to draw! I just love them!
Created with chalk and charcoal in about 2 hours.
Cards 376 & 377 for the Safehouse Project!
Both were created with pastel pencils in about 1.5 hours.
I just got back from a road trip through Kansas. Rolling plains for 9 hours… I wish I could road trip here.
